Fibromyalgia and sleep disorders are among the most common complaints from sufferers. The viscous cycle of not being able to sleep, coupled with the fatigue is difficult to deal with.
Other fibromyalgia symptoms like chronic muscle pain and chronic neck shoulder pain make it hard to even lay down. There is just no other way around the pain and sleepless nights, exercise is the key component.
Did you know that exercise is now being prescribed to cancer patients for their pain. The problem with exercise is that you must get up and get moving for it to be successful. Unfortunately exercise takes some work and dedication, not a lot but enough. If you can find just 10 minutes a day to work through some of the movements on the fibromyalgia exercise videos your body will feel worked and send signals to your brain asking for rest. This is much different than the fatigue you usually feel because of your fibromyalgia. That fibromyalgia fatigue is generally initiated by your mind.
An overworked, fatigued mind is much different than an overworked body. Now, I am not saying that you will not not feel sore or any pain when exercising.
What I am saying is that in order for you to rid yourself of chronic muscle pain and relieve your fibromyalgia and sleep disorders, exercise is really the best option.
If I write at my computer for more than 3 hours, which is sometime the case, I am sure to feel the chronic neck shoulder pain associated with this practice.
Now if I try to put myself to sleep without first attempting to stretch or warm my body up to relieve those tight muscles, its going o be a rough night, no doubt.
Fibromyalgia and chronic muscle pain are intertwined. They will not let you relax unless you initiate the process. You must move your body to create an atmosphere of relaxation and relief. Fibromyalgia trigger points will keep you tight, physically and emotionally. The cycle of physical pain, followed by the mental stress of the physical pain, will not go away unless you change the map, rearrange it.
I suffer from chronic neck shoulder pain on my left side. It's from an old football injury which has progressed over the years. The only thing which has given me a little relief has been steady warming up and exercise of that region. Not a lot of heavy lifting, just some movement of the neck and shoulder area.
Neck rotations and stretching some elastic tubing with both hands have worked wonders for me. You can buy elastic tubing from any of your local malls for under $15.00.
By simply exercising for as little as 10 minutes a day you can fight off off fibromyalgia and sleep disorders giving yourself some much deserved rest.
The best time for your your fibromyalgia exercises will be earlier in the day. If you exercise to close to bedtime your body will be too energized to fall asleep. Fibromyalgia and sleep disorders will cause you to feel tired during the day.
Before exercise you may want to drink a cup or two of green tea. This will get your body nice and warm as well as give you a little energy from the caffeine.
The key is to make it something fun to do. Don't think of it as work.
Believe that you are getting stronger, healthier.
Believe that you are beating fibromyalgia.
