Recovery Matters

Here's a question we received this year - My comments are below.

"I really believe in exercise for fibro and CFS. However I am in day two of complete exhaustion after an aerobic class on Tuesday. I can do it, enjoy it. Feel great after it, but the next few days I feel really ill with exhaustion.

Would love some advice on how I should proceed."

Many thanks,

Karen, many things factor into how you will feel after a day of exercise when you have fibro.

#1 and most important will be your age.

At 40 years of age your recovery time should be doubled from when you were 20. All this really means is you should never train 2 days in a row.

You need to have two days off in between exercise days.

Also, you need to pay attention to what you are eating on your training days and off days. The consumption of sugar will always cause you more pain.

I know what you are thinking - "I never eat sugar."

Start reading the labels of the foods you eat and the liquids you drink.

Did you know that 8 ounces of orange juice contains over 24 grams of Sugar.

I thought orange juice was supposed to be healthy?

Remember the triple threat to beating fibro - exercise, diet, and most important- peaceful recovery.
