The word Fibromyalgia is derived from the latin and greek language (Latin. fibro,fibrous tissues, Greek. myo-,muscle, Greek. algos-,pain,
meaning muscle and connective tissue pain).
The word Fibro literally means a "condition of pain in the muscle fibers." These are all symptoms of fibromyalgia.
A fibromyalgia diagnosis is not life threatening. It may feel as if you are all alone, but know this, 7% of the worlds population suffers from this disease.

So, what is fibromyalgia? What does a fibromyalgia diagnosis mean?
Technically it is not a disease.
As of right now in the year 2011, the latest fibromyalgia research has yet to identify the cause of fibromyalgia.
The symptoms of fibromyalgia suggest that this is much more of a syndrome rather than a disease. A syndrome is defined as a group of symptoms that characterize an illness or disorder.

Other words associated with the symptoms of Fibromyalgia include fibromyalgia Trigger Points and Myofascial pain syndrome.
Myofascial pain syndrome is another form of chronic pain that affects the entire body, especially the jaw and neck.
