"Predictions for fibromyalgia in 2012"

No I don't own a crystal ball and I can't see into the future. But sometimes you have to be blind to not see what's coming down the pike.

So without further ado...My predictions for the fibromyalgia community in 2012...

Number 1

Fibromyalgia sufferers will no longer be able to count on their pain medication for pain relief.

Listen, it's just a fact. If you haven't noticed we are somewhere between a recession and a depression, that won't change in 2012. Health benefits are being swiped and your co-payments will continue to rise. There is no other way around it, sufferers will need to seek out healthier solutions for their treatment.

Number 2

The stars will come out.

Many more Hollywood stars, singers, and athletes will bring more attention to fibromyalgia and other auto immune diseases. People like Venus Williams (Sjogren's syndrome), and Toni Braxton (Lupus), will become more vocal in bringing these conditions to light. I reached out to Sinead O'connor since she has suffered from fibromyalgia, (she declined an interview).

Number 3

Fibromyalgia sufferers will begin to make healthier choices.

Suffers will lose weight, get stronger, and motivate themselves to higher levels. Fibromyalgia will be around a while, so it's either go back to sleep or fight on! The fight continues...

Number 4

Fibromyalgia support groups will grow.

Fibromyalgia does not exist in the shadows anymore. People know what it is and understand it's real. Women who were once timid about sharing their stories of pain and helplessness will now help others. Support groups which do not exist today - will in 2012.

Number 5

The fitness industry will again earn millions upon millions of dollars.

Why? Because it works, always has always will...

So there you have my 5 predictions for fibromyalgia in 2012. As always keep moving, stretching, and laughing. 2011 is almost gone, finish strong!
